FBO Review Stafford, VA KRMN
Date 2/17/2010
This week my husband’s work necessitated him to be in the Washington D.C. area for a few days. We chose to fly into Stafford Virginia for it’s longer runway, and that it is just outside the D.C. ADIZ.
There has been quite a bit of snow in the D.C. area and the NOTAMS advised that the runways were plowed to 85’ wide and had 38” snow berms with the lighting obstructed. Jeff had flown into Stafford several weeks ago so he was familiar with the airport so off we went.
We had reserved a rental car and upon arrival it was immediately pulled up to our plane so we could unload our things into the trunk. We also reserved a hanger so once we unloaded Jeff taxied to the hanger we were given hanger keys and off we went.
The FBO is a temporary structure currently, but with all the conveniences to make for a comfortable stop. The plans for the new terminal are on display and it looks beautiful.
If you a re planning a trip to the D.C area think seriously about making Stafford your stop. It is just a few miles outside the dreaded D.C. ADIZ, so you won’t need a ADIZ code, the rental cars are less expensive to rent than closer into Washington, and the drive into D.C. is less than an hour depending on traffic. Plus the staff is friendly and helpful.
